The Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa is seeking a Lab Manager to oversee all aspects of its Medical Laboratories, including a High complexity and CLIA waived location.

 

Primary duties for this position include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for the daily operations of the medical laboratory and EKG services including providing day-to-day supervision of personnel.
• Monitors test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
• Solving technical problems and ensuring remedial action are taken when test systems deviate from performance specifications. Ensuring patient test results are not reported until test systems are functioning properly and any corrective actions have been taken.
• Maintaining CLIA certificates for all labs associated with PCI as well as COLA accreditation for the main location.
• Review test logs, result logs, and temperature logs in the PCI departments performing testing monthly.
• Manage lab employees, providing orientation to testing personnel, annually evaluating and documenting the performance, and administer competency testing.
• Maintain quality assurance and proficiency testing programs.

 

Qualifications:

• BA or BS in Laboratory Science.
• ASCP certification.
• One year training and experience in high complexity testing required.  
• Experience and education must align with CLIA requirements. 
• Prefer 3-5 years supervisory experience.
• Ability to perform all functions in the testing area of the medical laboratory.
