The Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa Department of General Surgery is seeking a full time LPN or RN to work with our busy general surgery practice and growing bariatric program. This individual will be responsible for assisting a provider with various duties and will provide assistance/direction for patients as appropriate.    

 

Primary duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Greet and room patients. Preparing for examinations and assisting provider during in-office medical procedures.
• Record and maintaining records of vitals, physician exam findings, procedures, and other pertinent patient health data.
• Provide patient education on treatment plans, medications, and ongoing care.
• Record and follow up on laboratory and diagnostic test results, including patient communication.
• Manage patient communication, including returning phone calls, answering questions, scheduling tests/procedures, changes in medications, and coordinating prescription refills.
• Attend bariatric program meetings
• Communicate with dietitian and bariatric program coordinator

 

Qualifications:

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse license or Registered Nurse license in the State of Iowa.
• Prefer experience in a medical office performing similar functions.
• Strong Commitment to patient care and teamwork.
• Excellent communication skills, professionalism, reliability, and maintaining confidentiality.
• Proficiency (or ability to become proficient) in EMR and related computer systems.
• Thorough understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
