GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: 

Kirkwood students come from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences. They demonstrate resilience in the face of academic and personal challenges, yet may still encounter barriers to access and success. The Associate Director for Student Assistance and Outreach advocates for student needs and leads college efforts to support students facing challenges and barriers, respond to reports of concern and foster a healthy campus community, on campus and off campus. As a member of the Associate Vice President’s leadership team, the Associate Director for Student Assistance and Outreach plays a central role in managing complex student matters, addressing student concerns with care and responsiveness, and leveraging resources to promote student success. The Associate Director leads a dedicated team focused on student access and will work collaboratively with colleagues across the institution and the broader community to support students' academic and personal development.

The typical work schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm with occasional night and weekend hours.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership, supervision, planning assessment and evaluation of Student Assistance and Outreach including Accommodation Services, off-campus housing, and Student Assistance. 
  • Coordinates, assigns, and oversees case management of student concerns.
  • Collaborates with college and community partners to ensure a high quality off-campus living experience, and streamlined, positive experiences for students accessing campus and community resources. 
  • Advocates for student needs with on- and off-campus partners.
  • Supports, implements, and assesses a student violence prevention education plan.
  • Serves as a deputy Title IX Administrator and assists individual students who report concerns of sexual misconduct; leads the college’s education and prevention efforts related to interpersonal and sexual violence and collaborates with college employees to ensure Title IX compliance.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Student Affairs, Higher Education, or a related field.
  • Five years of higher education experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating student success efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a diverse team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students with diverse needs and backgrounds.

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations Required

  • Include any required licenses, certifications, or registrations needed to be considered for the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Knowledge of Title IX and gender-based violence education programs.
  • Community college experience.
  • Prior experience with the student conduct process.
  • Prior responsibility for providing equitable access to programs and services.
