GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
The Program director for the Diagnostic Assistant/Radiological Technology Program is a full-time faculty position that provides both academic leadership and instructional support. This role is responsible for the overall coordination and management of the program, including curriculum development, accreditation compliance, course scheduling, faculty oversight, and partnership development. The director collaborates with internal departments and external clinical affiliates to ensure the program remains aligned with current professional standards and workforce needs. In addition to administrative responsibilities, the director teaches within the program, advises students, and supports their academic and professional growth. This position requires a dedicated and organized educator with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, student success, and continuous program improvement.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate sound comprehension of the role of Radiological Technologists and be able to effectively role model and teach that role
  • Create and utilize instructional plans to effectively organize and teach course work in accordance with syllabi
  • In collaboration with program faculty, develop and maintain curriculum aligned with the Iowa Department of Education, JCERT accreditation standards, and industry needs.
  • In collaboration with program faculty, lead program assessment, accreditation maintenance, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • In collaboration with the Dean and Associate Deans, coordinate course scheduling, program operations, and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in recruiting, mentoring, and supporting adjunct faculty within the program.
  • In collaboration with program faculty, oversee student advising, enrollment, retention, and academic progress of students.
  • Promote the program through marketing, outreach, and recruitment activities.
  • In collaboration with the department, manage clinical partnerships, fieldwork sites, and external educator coordination.
  • Support student engagement in internal and external programming.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and serve as program representative externally.
  • Maintain facilities, equipment, and ensure a safe learning environment with lecture and lab spaces.
  • Monitor program budget and contribute to strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Maintain a full-time teaching load delivering student-centered instruction using diverse teaching methods and technologies to support varied learning styles.
  • Monitor and evaluate student learning through formative and summative assessments
  • Participate in required departmental and College-wide activities.
  • Engage in service to the college with both internal and external communities of interest.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves sitting and/or standing most of the time in a classroom/laboratory setting.  Constant (67-100%) reaching, standing, walking, lifting, dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions and viewing various types of close visual work. Frequent (34-66%) stooping, kneeling, crouching. Travel to other on-campus facilities and clinic sites. Occasional (10-33%) lifting up to 50 pounds.   

May potentially be subject to bio-hazardous waste, hazardous chemicals, moveable mechanical parts, fumes, odors, dusts and mists. 

It is expected that faculty teaching in clinical settings comply with HIPAA, OSHA, CPR, immunizations as outlined in clinic contracts.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree
  • Prior experience in curriculum design, evaluation, and instruction with documentation of at least two years’ experience as an instructor in a JRCERT-accredited program.
  • Prior experience in program administration and academic advising.
  • Three years of clinical experience in the radiological practice.
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration or license to practice in the state of Iowa

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience teaching at a community college

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS,LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • One year of experience in education or a related field
