What Kind of Job Site User Are You?

Update to iowa workers on Coronavirus unemployment

Are you a serial job searcher who always keeps your options open? Or, do you only hit the job sites when you need a job, like, right now? Maybe you feel trapped in a job that’s sucking the life right out of you, and you cruise job sites as therapy after particularly bad days.

At any given point in your working life, you may fall into one of these categories. Whatever your mindset, CorridorCareers.com has the search strategy for you.

The “Pick a Job, Any Job” Candidate – Unemployed and desperate? On your last week of unemployment insurance? Do Mom and Dad want their basement back? If you’re past being picky about what jobs you apply for or maybe you’re just feeling really versatile, you can set up your search to see every single job that’s being posted by area employees. For the (really) big picture, just go to our FIND JOBS page and you’ll find a listing for every single, active job on the site (reverse chronological by date).

The “I Got Skillz” Candidate – You know what you want and you don’t want to wade through every listing from Art Director to Zoo Keeper to find it. If this is you, go to our CorridorCareers.com home page and search by pre-determined employment categories. Select a pre-established category.

Or use the handy-dandy search box at the top of each page to narrow your search criteria even further.

Our updated results display in a box/grid format including job title, location and employer and organized by posting date. Bonus TIP: If you don’t like the grid, you can change the result format to a list instead.

The “Keeping My Options Open” Candidate – Maybe you’re the curious type and you browse job sites regularly just to see what’s happening in town and where you might want to land next. Or, maybe you heard about an expansion that sounds interesting. And let’s face it, sometimes we’re just snoopy and we want to check out the job our dopey co-worker just landed (“Really, they hired him??? To do THAT?????). In that case, you may just want to do a search by employer or check out our Featured Employers to stay in the loop on movers and shakers.

The “Blank” Is My Dream Company / Job and I Must Work There” Candidate – If this is you and you don’t want to miss a thing but you’ve got better things to do than to hang around on the job boards every day, up your game and sign up for email notifications tailored to your specific job interests. You can designate your interests a couple of different ways. Either select a job category from the home page and enter your email on the results in this box:

Or, use the search box to specify your interest by a keyword like company name, location or skill.

When jobs matching your chosen criteria are added, we’ll send you a weekly email to the email address of your choice, away from prying eyes like bosses and dopey co-workers.

We hope you’ll find these tips helpful. If you have any suggestions or creative job site search strategies we’d love to hear from you. Just click on the Feedback form and fire away (no pun intended). Happy Hunting.
