GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Kirkwood Community College seeks skilled individuals to join our team as an Adjunct Instructor in the Interior Design and Interior Architecture program. These positions include lab assistance work and instructional assignments that will be compensated between two and seven credit hours per semester.
All Interior Design courses meet Monday through Friday on Kirkwood’s main campus in Cedar Rapids and online. Assistance work is still available for the remainder of the current fall semester. The spring session runs from January 11th to May 3rd. All interior design courses meet M-F on Kirkwood’s Main Campus in Cedar Rapids. Instructional assignments may include interior design foundational courses, SketchUp, and Revit. Ideally individuals will have availability MW between 9:05am - 4pm.
Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions scheduled intermittently based on institutional need. Adjuncts are not guaranteed work in any semester and are notified of course assignments prior to each term as courses become available. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Instruct students in all curriculum that relates to foundational concepts in interior design and interior architecture, and the technologies associated with this industry.
- Provide instruction in discipline.
- Collaborate with other faculty members in the development and formulation of course syllabi with consistent outcomes and assessments.
- Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
- Perform other related work duties as assigned such as regular lab and classroom maintenance so that all students have access to materials.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in a classroom setting. Occasional (10-33%) sitting, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) standing, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-
- Bachelors in Interior Design or Architecture OR 6,000 hours (3 years) of recent/relevant work experience in interior design, or
- Associate degree in Interior Design and have at least 3,000 hours of recent and relevant work experience in the area of instruction.
- Experience with SketchUp, Revit and other industry standard technologies.
