An electrical contracting company is looking for an eastern Iowa based bookkeeper/accounting specialist to manage the company's accounting.

Maintain the company's general ledger using QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Prepare monthly financial reports for company principals, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, cash-flow information, and other management reports as requested.

Reconcile company bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and other balance-sheet accounts.

Manage and monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Review outstanding customer balances and vendor obligations and communicate items requiring management attention.

Scan, organize, categorize, and enter receipts and expenses submitted by field employees.

Assist with project and job costing using Jobber and QuickBooks Online.

Review job-costing information for accuracy and help identify missing or improperly categorized labor, materials, subcontractor, and other project costs.

Process the company's weekly payroll through Gusto.

Maintain appropriate payroll, employee, subcontractor, W-9, and 1099 records.

Prepare information and assist with applicable state and federal filings in coordination with the company's CPA and tax professionals.

Assist with sales/use tax, payroll reporting, workers' compensation reporting, and other accounting-related compliance requirements as applicable.

Work with company ownership and the CPA during year-end closing and tax preparation.

Maintain organized digital financial records and supporting documentation.

Assist management with budgeting, cash-flow tracking, and financial analysis as requested.

Periodically research grants, incentives, tax credits, rebates, and other funding opportunities applicable to electrical, renewable-energy, and construction projects.
Qualifications

Prior bookkeeping, accounting, or small-business financial-management experience.

Strong experience with QuickBooks Online.

Experience with payroll processing; familiarity with Gusto preferred.

Familiarity with construction, electrical contracting, trades, or project-based accounting is helpful.

Experience with job costing is desirable.

Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and organized financial records.

Ability to work independently and communicate financial issues clearly with company ownership.

High level of discretion when handling confidential payroll, banking, employee, and company financial information.
-
Eastern Iowa based and available for periodic in-person meetings and ability to pick up physical receipts.
