Linn County Assessor
Linn County Assessor is looking to add an Appraiser to our team.
The Appraiser is responsible for valuing residential properties throughout Linn County. This role blends fieldwork and office work, requiring strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
What You’ll Do
- Inspect, measure, and assess new construction and existing residential properties.
- Analyze data and update property records and values, utilizing computer software.
- Conduct onsite inspections for appeals and support the informal/Board of Review process.
- Interpret blueprints, plats, condominium documents, and aerial imagery.
- Provide clear information to property owners and support a customer‑centered culture.
- Attend meetings, workshops, and required training.
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or GED; appraisal coursework preferred.
- Experience in residential property appraisal or an equivalent combination of training/experience.
- Knowledge of Iowa appraisal/assessment laws and residential appraisal methods.
- Strong computer skills and accuracy in reporting.
- Valid Iowa driver’s license, proof of insurance, and use of personal vehicle.
- Must pass drug test and background check.
Physical Requirements
- Light‑duty role involving walking, kneeling, measuring, driving, and exposure to outdoor weather conditions during fieldwork.
Pay:
- $55,000 – $75,000 per year
