Promotes a community oriented policing philosophy. The police officer accomplishes the police mission on the assigned "beat"; shall constantly be vigilant and on alert for violations of the laws and ordinances of the State of Iowa and/or City of Cascade. The police officer shall report promptly, at the designated time and place, in proper uniform for assisgnment to duty; shall listen attentively to orders and instructions of superior officers and shall read such materials as are made available.

The police officer shall learn the geographical character of the City well enough to give locations and highways in an intelligent manner when requested; shall either obtain requested information or direct the inquiring party to the person whom it may be obtained when unable to personally provide requested information. The police officer shall at all times maintain and alert and business like manner, avoiding lounging about places of business or on the street; shall not conceal themselves nor leave his or her patrol areas except for some police purpose. 

The police offier shall make an investigation when a door or window is found open under suspicious circumstances. The officer shall be alert for persons answering the description of a missing person. The officer shall take notice of all nuisances, impediments, obstructions, defects or other conditions in or adjacent to streets, alleys, and public places. 

The police officer shall make follow-up investigations and reports and efficiently and promptly investigate all crimes, either assigned or reported. The officer shall respond to all complaints regarding animals running at large. The officer shall testify in court when summoned to do so and complete all required paperwork before ending their shift unless directed otherwise by a supervisor.
