Pay is $1,294 per credit hour.   
 
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: 
Under limited direction, the Pharmacy Technician Instructor is responsible for fostering student learning in the areas of Pharmacy as it applies to the role of the Pharmacy Technician. This position will involve varying hours of instruction on campus and hybrid, between classroom and lab focused teaching. Must develop, implement and evaluate instruction, and report and record student achievement in assigned courses in accordance with department, division and college policies and procedures. Teaching responsibilities include lecture, laboratory and some fieldwork settings. Additionally, occasional outreach instructional support will be required.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively teach assigned courses
  • Develop course material
  • Prepare student learning activities
  • Evaluate student performance
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.
  • Abide by and enforce safety rules when in a lab setting.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
  • Be able and willing to represent the college in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current students, clients, suppliers and the community we serve.
  • Maintain program compliance according to accreditation standards.
  • Knowledge of current Pharmacy protocols and requirements.
  • Work with the college’s computer system- including Talon and Eaglenet.
  • Uphold all Kirkwood Student and Faculty Handbook policies.
  • Read, understand, and express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written form.
  • Knowledge about methods of instructions, testing and evaluation of students.
  • Possess the ability to organize and present various concepts to a wide range of students with varying backgrounds and abilities, and adjust teaching techniques accordingly.
  • Must be self-motivated, energetic and have good communication skills.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work.  Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Pharmacist or Certified Pharmacy Technician  
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: 
  • Must be currently registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy.
PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
  • At least two years’ experience
  • Experience with Online education and Talon learning platform preferred.
