Mail Services Associate (Part Time)

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: 

Responsible for receipt and delivery of mail, packages, and other materials for the college and its locations.  

The typical hours for this position will be between Monday through Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive, sort, process, schedule, and deliver mail and packages to any on-or-off-campus locations and the post office.
  • Operate computerized mailing equipment.
  • Assist with the unloading of trucks, and route incoming freight and packages.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks and other related equipment.
  • Fill and deliver large orders (Print Shop, Bookstore, Custodial, Special Deliveries, Office Supplies, etc.)
  • Subject matter expert on deliveries, automated mailings, postal regulations, and shipping and receiving.
  • Operate snow removal equipment and shovels to remove snow and ice from roads, parking lots and walkways. 
  • Work on-site during college breaks, Holidays and other critical times. 
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Constant (67-100%) stooping, kneeling, reaching, walking, and lifting 50 pounds. Frequent (34-66%) crouching, standing, pushing, pulling, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motion, viewing computer and/or close visual work of less than 18” of distance. Occasional (10-33%) sitting, climbing, balancing, and travel to campus locations. Ability to do heavy lifting up to 50 pounds. Ability to see color spectrum.  

May be subject to extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour), extreme heat (temperatures above 90 degrees for periods of more than one hour), noise, and hazards such as moving mechanical parts and electric current.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma and three years related experience required or an Associate’s Degree.    
  • Must have experience with computers.  
  • Must have ability to understand and interpret postal regulations and possess basic math skills.  

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: 

  • Must have valid Iowa driver’s license with good driving record.
