Lab Technician - Aviation (Part Time)

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
The Aviation Maintenance program is seeking a reliable and motivated Student Lab Assistant to support daily operations in our hangar and lab spaces. This hands-on position involves working with tools, equipment, and aircraft components to ensure a well-organized, safe, and efficient learning environment for students and faculty.
WORK SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

Monday–Thursday:
- Arrive no later than 7:30 a.m. to open the hangar
- Work until at least 5:00 p.m., including daily project work and hangar closing procedures

Friday–Sunday:
- During the academic year, work a minimum of 8 hours over the weekend to maintain project progress
- Be available for occasional extended hours on Fridays or Saturdays, or later on weekdays, for special events or setup as needed (advance notice will be provided)
- Note: The program is typically closed on Fridays during the summer; weekend hours may still be required depending on project needs

Monday–Thursday:
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist faculty and staff with inventory and organization of shop tools, equipment, and consumable supplies
- Help establish and maintain inventory tracking systems
- Support inspection, maintenance, repair, and/or fabrication of shop equipment
- Assist with maintenance tasks on program aircraft and components outside of regular instructional activities
- Perform storage, cleaning, and organization tasks in the lab and hangar
- Open and close the hangar daily, including completing the closing checklist
- Other duties as assigned to support the program’s operations

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
