GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: 

Kirkwood Community College's Agricultural Sciences Department seeks a skilled enthusiastic individual to join our faculty to teach courses in our Veterinary Technician Program. Primary duties will include assist with teaching the large animal lab.

$1,304  per credit hour of instruction.

• Provide instructor lab support for Large Animal course in assisting students learning essential skills.
• Lab activities include, but are not limited to: blood draws, IM and sub-q injections, halter lead and tie, TPR.
• Assist with preparing and facilitating lab activities involving large and small ruminants and equine.

Position involves working in a classroom setting. Occasional (10-33%) sitting, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) standing, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing. 

• Three years of experience with large animals or bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

• Three years experience handling cattle, goats, and equine.
• AAS or Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. 
• Large animal husbandry experience.
• Demonstrated success in working collaboratively.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
