GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Kirkwood Community College seeks a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Adjunct Instructor providing instruction in health science courses within the college’s Health Programs area. Teaching responsibilities include traditional and concurrent credit sections of courses such as Medical Terminology and Professionals in Health. The instructor will work collaboratively with program faculty to deliver engaging, industry-relevant instruction that supports student achievement and workforce readiness.
$1,304 per credit hour of instruction.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide engaging, student-centered instruction in assigned health courses.
- Teach courses in traditional credit and concurrent enrollment formats, following college and partner school guidelines.
- Develop and deliver course materials that meet established learning outcomes and align with departmental standards.
- Evaluate and assess student performance through assignments, exams, and other assessment methods in accordance with college policies.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of grades, attendance, and other required documentation.
- Support diverse student populations, promoting a student-centered approach.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff to ensure student success and class quality.
- Utilize learning technologies, including the college’s learning management system (LMS), to support instruction and communication.
- Comply with all institutional policies, procedures, and accreditation standards.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-
- Associate's degree in one of the discipline areas in the department (Nursing, RT, PTA, Surgical Tech, Medical Assist, OTA, Paramedic, MLT, or END) plus one and a half full years of recent and relevant work experience in that health care discipline area, and current licensure, registration, or credentialing in the discipline area.
- 3 full years of recent and relevant work experience in one of the disciplines represented within the health department (Nursing, RT, PTA, Surgical Tech, Medical Assist, OTA, Paramedic, MLT, or END), and current licensure, registration, or credentialing in the discipline area.
- Current licensure or credentialing in the discipline area.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
- Experience teaching at the college level.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission of a comprehensive community college.
- Demonstrated success in working collaboratively.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
