Compliance Reporting Analyst I

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: 

The Compliance Reporting Analyst I position will be a part of the Compliance Reporting team. This position will help design, test, and deliver on time and accurate reports. The compliance reports and data support internal and external requirements. The analyst will report to the Director of Compliance Reporting and support Institutional Research. This position will be responsible for compliance reporting and supporting information needs for Kirkwood’s mission and vision.

The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm with an option to work a hybrid schedule (3 days on campus and 2 days remote).

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, modify, and maintain SQL stored procedures with guidance.
  • Adhere to Compliance Reporting Team SQL coding standards.
  • Test reporting logic against business rules and develop data validation audits.
  • Assist in resolving data and reporting logic errors.
  • Document database objects and stored procedures.
  • Actively participate and present/explain queries as part of team code walk-throughs.
  • Create and modify reports in SSRS development environment. 
  • Import/Export data via SSMS.
  • Generate routine and ad hoc reports. 
  • Acquire primary or secondary data from existing internal or external data sources.
  • Develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that ensure data quality.
  • Run data trends and check variances.
  • Participate and collaborate with team on scrum agile processes.
  • Assist the Director of Compliance Reporting in reviewing requirements and technical specifications.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems or related field or 2 years of programming experience in a professional capacity.
  • Experience in Microsoft SQL Database environment or its equivalent.
  • Communicate technical information effectively in both oral and written format 
  • Able to interpret questions or requirements, identify problems and propose solutions.
  • Strong customer service orientation, including excellent planning, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in computer science or related field.
  • Good understanding of the development life cycle and processes.
  • Knowledge and experience with relational databases management and manipulation.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and Visual Studio SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Ability to import/export spreadsheet data via Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Working knowledge of scrum agile development methodology.
  • Knowledge and experience with project management.
  • Prior experience in state, federal, and accreditation reporting.
  • Prior experience with Ellucian Colleague.
  • Experience using integrated databases in an educational environment.
  • Knowledge of report building in Tableau.
