GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: 

Join a dynamic team at Kirkwood Community College’s Washington County Regional Center and make a meaningful difference in the lives of students and the local community! We are seeking an engaged, detail-oriented, and student-focused professional to serve as a key member of our administrative team.

In this role, you will lead efforts to coordinate innovative Continuing Education programming that empowers lifelong learning in Washington County. You’ll provide exceptional student support, collaborate with faculty and staff, and serve as a welcoming resource for the public. Your responsibilities will include managing records, composing communications, and ensuring smooth operations—all while applying your knowledge of college policies and procedures to deliver outstanding service.

This position offers the opportunity to shape educational experiences, strengthen community connections, and contribute to a mission-driven organization. Occasional evening hours may be required to support exciting Continuing Education events and programs.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Continuing Education programs, ensuring accessible, high-quality learning opportunities that meet the needs of students and the Washington County community. Lead efforts in course coordination, programming, and marketing to expand educational reach and engagement. 
  • Oversee the campus Test Center. Verify eligibility, administer, and proctor online, standardized, and classroom exams to support student success and credential attainment.
  • Support departmental and campus-wide initiatives, including student life events and orientation activities, fostering a welcoming environment that enhances the student experience.
  • Deliver exceptional front-line customer service, responding to inquiries from students, community members, and internal stakeholders via phone, email, or in person. Provide accurate information and guidance to ensure positive interactions and timely resolutions.
  • Maintain smooth office operations through essential clerical tasks. 
  • Provide dependable office coverage during scheduled hours, with the ability to independently open and close the building, reinforcing a safe and reliable campus presence for students and community members.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves sitting most of the time in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) stooping, kneeling, crouching, grasping and walking. Frequent (34-66%) viewing computer and other close visual work and repetitive motion in using the computer to perform job-related functions. Constant (67-100%) communication: talking and listening, either face-to-face or via the telephone.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency required. Any combination of secretarial/clerical experience and/or post-secondary secretarial training equivalent to three years of full-time employment OR an appropriate Associate degree.
  • Must have at least one year of experience using word processing and computer equipment. Must be able to type at an acceptable level, and experience with spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software preferred with computerized record systems helpful. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • AA
  •  Two years related office experience and excellent computer skills and office equipment including—Microsoft Office, Google systems, fax, printer and copy machines.
