JOB DESCRIPTION
The Children & Youth Ministry Coordinator is to be “on the ground” - program coordinating, overseeing and visioning for day to day, implementing ministry vision and approach, building relationships with children, youth, families and surrounding neighbors in Wellington Heights. Children & Youth are a vibrant and growing demographic of the church. This position's responsibility is to oversee and cultivate a welcoming and fun-filled faith environment of ministry and programming for church services, events and mid-week children and youth gatherings. This position should be “ministry program-coordinator” minded, a mobilizer of people, energetic and fueled by a passion for the approach of ministry within Christian Community Development context.
While there are other specific responsibilities entailed in this role, being a self-starter and initiator is key to this position, both in executing and learning. As an extension of this expectation, the Children and Youth Coordinator is expected to consistently be learning, growing and developing around cultural humility. It is important to note that WHCC is a “multi” and diverse church and it is core to this position as it impacts the day-to-day experience of staff, children, youth and neighborhood.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Children & Youth Ministry Coordinator will serve to enhance the vision of WHCC through the holistic care and ministry to children, youth and families (from birth-high school) in these ways:
- Work alongside Lead Pastor to provide structure and programming in ways that enhance the mission and vision for children, youth and families through Sunday services, mid-week programming and bi-monthly youth group.
- Serve as primary coordinator for Sunday morning nursery and child-wide childcare for special events and gatherings
- Oversee all volunteer coordination including - recruiting, training, scheduling, developing and celebrating volunteer leaders in the ministry area. Coordinator is key to establishing and developing lay leadership of volunteers so they can assist this position to support the week-to-week ministry happenings
- Implement age appropriate discipleship and formation curriculum. This will include selecting curriculum alongside Pastoral staff, training leaders on how to use the curriculum and adapting or contextualizing content as needed.
- Planning and executing details regarding children and youth in special events around seasonal holidays and community building
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be fully engaged in the life of Wellington Heights Community Church
- Coordinate efforts with the larger staff team and participate in monthly staff meetings and yearly staff retreat
- Help support special events and projects and worship services at Wellington Heights Community Church
- Commit to an approach of ministry rooted in the approach of Christian Community Development.
- Update CPR and First Aid certification every two years

HOURS:
Part-time: 10-15 hours/week
Must be available to work Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings.
