Position Summary:
The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Health Care Information Systems is seeking a Lead IT Support Consultant. This position will manage a multi-year replacement project for existing Nurse Call Systems, and to provide ongoing operational support of the Rauland Responder 5 Nurse Call Systems. Also, to manage current legacy Nurse Call systems deployed across UI Health Care. Design and implementation for UI Health Care capital constructions will also a key role of this position.
Position Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with project stakeholders to define and lay out the large scale and/or multiple interdependent overall project work plan for the development and implementation of projects and services across multiple required technologies
- Continually communicates with key contacts from within the hospital or organization that may have organization- and external vendors, while maintaining awareness of the project wide implications. scope and objectives, and the overall project requirements and timeline.
- Manages vendor relationships and organizing vendor staffing appointments at UIHC.
- Manages the strategic roadmap for the Nurse Call platform
- Manage small team of technicians. Monitoring their performance, discipline management and career development.
- Applies a broad understanding of Nurse Call system disciplines
- Creates standard configurations for the Nurse Call system for the facility
- Provides recommendation along with Nursing for nurse call priority unit replacement.
- Creates a statement of work and floor plans that show existing systems for demolition and new work. • Works with the various teams and vendors to develop integrations between the Nurse Call System and other systems using middleware as needed (EMR, Interactive Patient System, and reports. ADT/HL7, RTLS, Staff Assignments, mobile devices).
- Troubleshoots and provides technical support on the hardware software applications and integrations.
- May provide direct end user assistance and consultation
- Oversees the delivery of training programs
- May train users in large group, small group, and/or one-on-one sessions.
- Prepares and updates system documentation to ensure knowledge transfer
- Recommends procedures to improve efficiencies
- Ensures regulatory compliance
- May assist in budget development

Education Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications:
- Experience (typically 3-5 years) providing technical support for complex integrated systems, locations and services
- Technical project manager or project leadership experience
- Working experience with Word, Excel, Visio and/or CAD
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with technical and nontechnical staff.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively in a diverse environment
- Experience with Nurse Call Systems
- Experience with RTLS or RFID systems
- Experience with system integration or middleware experience.
- Experience in a healthcare or health industry environment
Desired Qualifications
- Working level knowledge and/or experience with voice/data networks
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Technical training experience
