We are looking for a Bridge & Projects Engineer.  This entry level role provides support for the Engineering, Operating, and Marketing Departments in the development of new business plans. As a Bridge & Projects Engineer, your tasks will include working with one of our P.E.'s in the design and engineering of new projects on our railroad.  This is a full-time on-site role headquarted in Cedar Rapids, IA. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares and reviews plans, estimates and specifications for IAIS projects.
  • Assists with the management of the IAIS Bridge Management Plan, bridge inspections, plans, and construction.
  • Assists with property leases, land sales, and joint facilities.
  • Assists in the development of the MOW operating budget and prepare cost estimates.
  • Prepares engineering reports and other related work as required.

Professional Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of relevant engineering experience is preferred, but new Engineering graduates will be considered.
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering.
  • Working knowledge in aspects of construction and design would be beneficial. 
  • Must possess and maintain a current and valid driver’s license, and be insurable under IAIS’s commercial auto policy throughout IAIS employment.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary to commensurate experience; starting between $90,000 - $100,000 per year. Relocation package considered.
