RTG Buidling Services is searching for a candidate for the postion of Grounds Laborer at the US Courthouse in Cedar Rapids. This postion reports directly to the Custodial and Grounds Project Manager.  The Grounds Laborer will be responsible for working independently maintaining a meticulous, clean condition and appearance of the grounds of the facility. Hours will be 6:00 a.m -2:00 p.m, however hours may vary dury winter season.

Responsiblities will include:

• Maintain lawns, plants, trees and shrubs 
• Mulching, pruning and soil monitoring
• Leaf removal
• Overseeding, dethatching, and aerating
• Fertilization
• Maintain ellipse containing carpet roses, lilies, and junipers
• Keep sidewalks, parking garages, granite, and driveways and all entrances free of debris and trash
• Watering lawns
• Participate in Integrated Pest Management Plan
• Snow Removal, applying ice melt before and during building operating hours to prevent slips and fall hazards
• Supervising snow subcontractor in removing and hauling away snow for contractor
• Communicating regularly with Project Manager to improve strategies for best practices and solutions to problems
• Maintain company equipment and supplies related to grounds
• Remove spills, avian or animal excrement from propety
• Miscellaneous services as directed by the Project Manager or the Facility Manager   
• Responding to flag action orders                                                                                                                                                                             Qualifications:       
• Minimum of 3 years working in similar grounds maintenance employment
• Must successfully complete an HSPD 12 Application process
• Must be 21 years or older
• Neat and clean appearance
• Must have a positive attitude, be a team player, be able to work independently with integrity and good decision making skills     
• Experience in operating riding mowers, push mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, snow blowers, ice melt spreaders, pruning tools, and all equipment related to job duties.
