GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
$1,280 per credit hour of instruction.
Kirkwood Community College seeks a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Adjunct Instructor in Design Fundamentals for Fall 2022. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge base in the Art discipline in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional mediums, and understanding of foundational drawing instruction as it relates to these concepts, and teaching experience at the college level is desirable. Primary duties will include instructing students in courses, and communicating with department staff, students, and other faculty.
Adjunct faculty play a vital role in instruction. Adjunct instructors are responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. Adjunct faculty bring with them a variety of backgrounds and professional experiences which serve to foster growth in the subject matter and enrich student learning. Adjunct faculty must evaluate, record, and report student achievement and progress in assigned courses in accordance with department, division, and college policies and procedures. Must be able to design and participate in assessment of student learning projects within the discipline, the department, and the college.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct students in Design Fundamentals as it relates to foundational concepts in both two and three-dimensional art.
- Provide instruction in discipline.
- Work with other faculty members to develop a course syllabus and consistent assessments.
- Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
- Perform other related work duties as assigned.

- Effectively instruct and communicate material for the course.
- Abide by and enforce safety rules when in a lab setting.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:
Position involves working in a classroom setting. Occasional (10-33%) sitting, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) standing, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
- Completion of a master’s degree with 18 Graduate hours in the Art discipline.
- Experience teaching foundational drawing courses.
- Experience teaching at the college level.
- MFA in Art discipline.
- Experience in Digital Photography preferred to be eligible to teach this course as well.
