GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: 
This position is part-time, we have some daytime shifts and some evening and weekend shifts. This position is tip eligible. 


Welcome, greet and assist guests with check-in/check-out processes, provide friendly and efficient transportation of guests in the hotel vehicles as needed, and accommodate guest needs during their stay in an attentive, courteous and friendly manner. This includes, but is not limited to escorting guests, opening doors, assisting guests with luggage and keeping the lobby space and entrance areas clean and welcoming.
This position serves as a trainer.  Trainers are responsible for supervising the learning experiences of students in all areas of The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, The Kirkwood Center for Hospitality Arts and The Kirkwood Center for Continuing Education.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet incoming guests and escort them to their destination in the building. 
  • Transfer luggage, trunks, and packages to and from rooms, loading areas, vehicles, or transportation terminals, by hand or using baggage carts. 
  • Drive the hotel vehicles to transport guests as needed.
  • Supply guests or travelers with directions, travel information, and other information such as available services and points of interest. 
  • Receive and mark baggage by completing and attaching claim checks. 
  • Assist physically challenged travelers and other guests with special needs. 
  • Deliver messages and run errands for guests. 
  • Explain the operation of room features such as locks, ventilation systems, and televisions.  
  • Keep sundry items clean, organized and stocked for guest purchases.
  • Maintain clean, safe and fueled hotel vehicles.
  • Maintain lobbies, public spaces and entrance areas for travelers or guests.
  • Maintain compliance with required training as designated by supervisor.

Position involves working in an office setting. Constant (67-100%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping, talking and hearing. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer, and other types of close visual work.  Occasional (10-33%) sitting, repetitive motion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or the equivalent required.   
  • Must be 18years of age or older.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: 
 
  • Must have a valid Iowa drivers license and qualify for a chauffer’s class D endorsement. 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
 

  • Preference will be given to those candidates with a post high school degree.  
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with a minimum of two years full-time experience in a related hospitality setting or the equivalent education and related work experience.
