Originally constructed in 1968, Buchanan County Health Center (BCHC) is a full-service, primary care community hospital. A major addition was made in 1988 for emergency, outpatient, ambulance, admitting, business office, and medical records services. New construction in 1991 added the Long Term Care unit. In 2000, the dialysis union was added. The outpatient clinic was completed in 2001 and the Therapy and Wellness Center was completed in 2005. Today, Buchanan County Health Center has 25 acute care beds, 59 long-term care beds and 12 dialysis stations. Our facility is surveyed and certified by the Iowa State Department of Inspections and Appeals. BCHC is a Critical Access Hospital and employs more than 225 full and part-time employees dedicated to “Caring for Our Community.”
