Sheet Metal and Warehouse Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Vice President, Procurement and Logistics, the Sheet Metal and Warehouse Coordinator will fabricate roofing related sheet metal products for construction and service projects by operating the fabrication machine to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal. Sheet metal inventory will also be maintained by this person. In addition, the Sheet Metal and Warehouse Coordinator will participate in programs for the purchase, maintenance/repair, and replacement of D. C. Taylor Co. tools and equipment. Working closely with the VP, Procurement and Logistics, the Warehouse and Sheet Metal Coordinator will inventory and stage materials and equipment required for construction and service projects. Lastly, strong internal customer service dedication and communication with Project Managers, Field Office Managers and Project Supervisors is required to reduce errors, minimize material turn-around time and eliminate non-productive time.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

•Process construction and service sheet metal orders

•Monitor sheet metal inventory, replenish according to job schedule

•Prioritize and fabricate sheet metal orders and work with Manager to assure that the finished product meets quality standards

•Process bill of material transfers, material returns, and warehouse transfers for service and construction projects

•Participate in the process of hazardous waste minimization, management and disposal

•Process employee tailgate tool purchases

•Assume safety, organization, maintenance and housekeeping responsibilities of the warehouse and yard

•Monitor warehouse equipment as required by the Equipment Maintenance Program and participate with Managers and Supervisors to ensure the usability and efficiency of the D. C. Taylor Co. owned equipment

•Maximize warehouse efficiency by frequently inventorying, organizing, ordering and rotating materials inventory

•Coordinate with Manager to determine which materials on bill of material will be sourced from the warehouse

•Stage materials and equipment for projects

•Select freight carrier and schedule outbound freight

•Confirm shipment delivery or crew pick-up dates with awareness of project schedules

•Work with Project Supervisors and Field Office Managers to document and continually improve warehouse, sheet metal and yard processes

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

•Perform other related duties as required and directed

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

•Associates degree or relevant vocational training is preferred; two or more years of similar experience in a related industry required

•Must possess general computer knowledge and have experience with Microsoft Office

•Must have Internal and Externals customer service skills

•Must have effective written and verbal communication skills

•Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred

•Must have a clean MVR and experience pulling a trailer

•Forklift certification preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS

•Full time; Monday through Friday, hours vary

•May require early morning, evening, weekend work, or travel on occasion

•Must be able to stand for extended periods of time

•Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
