The Senior Manager of Network Systems & Planning will be responsible for expanding and modernizing our networks to keep pace with expanding geographical boundaries and customer growth. 


Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and Manage Network, Video and Voice Engineers, Administrators and Network Operations personnel in their day to day planning and execution.
  • Big picture view of telecom networks (Ethernet, IP, SONET, switching, wireless, microwave, satellite), the technologies, process and systems used to engineer, design, build and operate such networks.
  • Participates in strategic technological planning to achieve business goals by prioritizing technology initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment and management of current and future technologies.
  • Frequent preparation and delivery of detailed plans and proposals.
  • Collaborate with the appropriate departments to develop and maintain a technology plan that supports organizational needs.
  • Make an assessment and communicate risks associated with technology-related investments and purchases.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for technology spending and initiatives.
  • Define requirements for new technology implementation and communicate them to key business stakeholders.
  • Review hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts and pursue master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale.
  • Conduct research to remain up-to-date and knowledgeable in regards to industry trends and emerging technologies in anticipation of new business processes and system alterations.
  • Analyze and improve upon technology standards across the organization to maintain a technological and competitive edge within the market. 
  • Ensuring superior endpoint performance.
  • Review of system reports for network/endpoint failures.
  • Review of system capacity utilization and recommendations.
  • Ensuring network optimization including the moving/removing of network hardware as required, the installation/repair of network elements and network upgrades.
  • Provide technical support for new equipment being installed on-site.
  • Coordinate/plan with existing and potential customer’s network system requirements.
  • Deliver technical training/information sessions to peers and customers.
  • Supervise direct reports responsible for data, voice and video network engineering and administration.



We're looking for people with:

  • University degree in the field of Computer Science, Engineering or Business Administration; Master's Degree in on of these fields preferred.
  • 3+ years of related supervisory, management experience
  • 8+ years’ experience managing and/or directing technological operations
  • 3+ years’ experience working in telecommunications industry
  • Valid Iowa Driver’s License
  • Excellent knowledge of technology environments, including telecommunications, networks, programming, and media. IP (Internet Protocol), VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), IPTV (Internet Protocol Television), HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax), FTTH (Fiber to the Home)
  • Exposure to business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations
  • Proven experience in planning, organization, and development
  • Demonstrated ability to apply technology solutions to business problems
  • Must be familiar with a variety of field concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
