The Information Technology Systems Administrator will provide support in the development, implementation, and use of technology throughout the organization. Areas of responsibility include the full range of information systems and telecommunications activities, including analyzing user requirements, recommending practical solutions, and supporting organization-wide efforts to improve the effective use of technology. This person works closely with the Director of IT and is responsible for ensuring the integrity and security of all technology systems that support the organization as well as end users. This person is expected to learn emerging technologies and resolve any issues involved in integrating new technologies with existing systems. The Systems Administrator is a key technical resource, providing advice, training, and technical support for various projects. Due to the nature of our business, traveling to remote locations will be required on a semi-regular basis.

Supervises:     No direct reports                              



  • Install and configure computer hardware, networks, operating systems, and applications (desktops and servers).
  • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks including Voice Over IP (VOIP) telephony and various site Internet connections.
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems and diagnose and solve hardware/software faults.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with, colleagues, end- users and other professionals (e.g., suppliers and software developers).
  • Test and evaluate new technology.
  • Procure software and parts as instructed by the Director of IT.
  • Manage audio-visual equipment at meetings, conferences, or training, and to manage audio-visual resources.
  • Perform light lifting and manual handling of IT equipment.
  • Available for on-call 24-hour coverage in case of hardware, network, or software failure.
  • Work flexibly – recognizing that many duties require to be undertaken outside normal working hours to minimize disruption to end-users.
  • Replace hardware and parts as required.
  • Support the rollout of new computer/software applications and procedures.
  • In partnership with the Director of IT, maintain the IT Helpdesk System, logging all incidents and requests, their acknowledgements and their resolutions and ensuring that all support tickets are handled effectively and expeditiously.
  • Identify and correct or advise on operational issues with end users’ computer devises.
  • Provide basic software training and advice to end-users.
  • Manage backups of all systems ensuring that they run successfully.
  • Update systems and servers regularly with approved software updates.
  • Monitor system & server logs, following up on any security or performance issues.



Education, Licenses/Certifications and Work Experience:

  • 2+ years' experience in computer networks and systems maintenance.
  • Microsoft Certification preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in software and hardware installation.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a current and valid driver’s license and be insurable under IAIS’s commercial auto policy throughout IAIS employment.


Skills, knowledge, abilities, and mental requirements:

  • Possess a strong background in the Windows OS and Windows Server OS. Advanced knowledge of a wide range of computer systems software, applications, hardware, networking, and communications.
  • Ability to diagnose and rectify a wide range of complex computer hardware and software problems.
  • Ability to provide advanced technical assistance and comprehensive problem resolution to end users.
  • Ability to install and configure computer systems, hardware, and peripherals.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Team oriented
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours
  • Proven ability to deal with people in high stress situations with empathy and concern.
  • Education and Experience:



  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time at a computer terminal. Must be able to lift computer equipment such as desktop PC’s, Monitors and Network printers, up to 100 pounds. 
  • May be stressful at times due to interruptions and multiple tasks to be completed. 
  • Constant (67-100%) talking and hearing either on the telephone or in person, repetitive motion, and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work.



  • Position involves working in an office setting and traveling to maintain systems at remote locations. 
  • Incumbent is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions or noise levels. 
  • The job requires the individual to follow IAIS and federal standard safety procedures and to avoid possible injuries.
