The System Administrator role is broad in technology coverage and deep in platform experience. This role is responsible for design, implementation, configuration, and optimizing server platforms, storage systems, network connectivity, and security infrastructure to achieve high performance of the various business applications by tuning the infrastructure as needed. This includes ensuring industry best practices are followed, a fault tolerant architecture is implemented, proper monitoring is put in place, and documentation is created/ maintained. The System Administrator III will assist in overseeing technical escalations, project scheduling, and team guidance as required.


Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design, implement, and manage Desktop, server, network, and storage technologies to meet efficiency, reliability, and performance expectations
  • Integrate and support servers, including database, e-mail, print, backup servers, and their associated software into enterprise solutions
  • Design and implement physical, virtual, and cloud systems, maintenance support plans, and vendor-supplied patches
  • Utilize deployment systems for PC imaging, application deployment, and patch management delivery
  • Ticket handling – Assist end users with break/ fix troubleshooting, equipment moves/adds/changes while assisting with workload prioritization
  • Entitlement services – Manage changes related to physical and logical access by granting access and permissions based on requirements
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, Cisco IOS, Network protocols, VoIP, firewall management, and operating system configuration
  • Manage and support enterprise directory services and supporting infrastructure and services
  • Design, test, and implement server backups and recovery procedures
  • Point of escalation for complex technical needs
  • Develop and maintain training materials including solution and procedural documentation
  • Guide vendors by communicating requirements, evaluate software and hardware solutions, and build cost effective solutions
  • Regularly provide mentoring and cross training guidance for others in the department
  • Technical liaison to other teams in support of common business goals by analyzing project requirements and developing reliable/ scalable solutions
  • Technical advisor to business partners to consult, design, and implement secure technology strategies
  • Effectively document and communicate technical information in a clear and understandable way to all levels of the organization

Strategic & Planning Responsibilities

  • Act as project lead in the design and review of new systems, business applications, and related hardware; conduct capacity planning as needed.
  • Lead and influence technical direction at all levels of enterprise Infrastructure
  • Proven experience in preparing and maintaining capital and operational budgets
  • Lead, coordinate, and participate in key process improvements as they relate to infrastructure technologies



We are looking for people with:

An Associate’s degree (A.A.) in the field of computer science or management information systems and/or 6+ years of directly related work experience is required. Certifications in Cisco, VMWARE, Citrix, SAN storage technologies, collaboration platforms, and Windows Server are highly desired. Additional requirements include:

  • A minimum of 6 years’ equivalent work experience in a senior technical analytical position responsible for managing server, network, storage, and security environments
  • Advanced knowledge of server technologies including Operating Systems, physical and virtual server environments, eMail and collaboration systems including Office 365, MS Teams, Sharepoint, Active Directory, and database server
  • Advanced knowledge of storage area networks and backup systems
  • Advanced knowledge of the following networking technologies: routing, switching, LAN/WAN, wireless, and Ports /protocol filtering (firewall systems)
  • Extensive experience installing, configuring, and maintaining all manner of server hardware and associated network equipment, including RAID, SCSI, and I/O topologies.
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, Cisco IOS, Network protocols, VoIP, firewall management, and operating system configuration.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of scripting code using shell scripting tools.
