This job supports Mercy’s philosophy of patient centered care by providing technical project management, system design, architecture support, and managing documentation and standards of system deliveries for Mercy Medical Center’s, Mercy Physician Services, and MSO customers to deliver reliable, high quality data center solutions.
Job Duties
  • Assist the Sr. Network Engineer(s) in maintaining working standards for network infrastructure deployment and ongoing management. This includes long term strategic planning of Mercy’s evolving enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Break Fix Management – Technical Escalation, and assist Sr. Network Engineers with Root Cause Analysis and Technical Sign Off.
  • Assist with documentation as it relates to network configuration, mapping, processes and service tickets.
  • Requires some after-hours support to include weekend work: 7x24 on-call support for Network escalations and automated monitoring/alerting of key production systems, along with off-hours time to perform maintenance on production systems, devices, and equipment.
  • Provide third level help desk support. This requires resolution of user and network issues beyond the first two levels of help desk expertise or security capabilities.
  • Maintain documentation of corporate policies and procedures as related to network, system, and device use and security.
  • Troubleshoot wireless infrastructure components to facilitate mobile connectivity for internal wifi, AeroScout, tablets, wi-fi phones, Vocera devices, and BYOD.
  • Assist Sr. Network Engineers communications with vendors, suppliers, distributors, and contract consultants. This would include support contracts and quotes.
  • Serve as Network Tech Resource for appropriate IT maintenance and support projects as required.
  • Maintain as necessary project plans and documentation of all system builds and modifications.
  • Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve network and system problems, performance issues, and resource allocation throughout the Mercy Data, Wi-fi, Voice and Voice Network.
  • Performs administrative and maintenance duties as required to assist Sr. Network Engineer(s) with process improvements and quality control.
  • Assists Sr. Network Engineers in the development deployment and management of all networking equipment to include servers, switches, access points, wireless controller, load balancers, firewall, voice and video infrastructure including TelePresence, Call Manager, Voicemail, and faxing. (Including Mercy Physician Services).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet research skills.
  • Operates normal office equipment, e.g. fax machine, multi-line telephone system and dictating equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that include grammar, spelling, punctuation and proofreading.

Professional Experience
  • One to two years of experience in network administration is required, along with problem resolution abilities.
  • A two year technical school degree in computer science or Network Management is preferred.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
  • Preferred: Cisco and/or Microsoft Certification

Schedule: Full Time, Day, 8a to 5p plus on call rotation
