Network Security Analyst / Server Associate

Position is responsible for both network and windows server administration.  The network function has the primary responsibility to maintain and support countywide networking and security related equipment. The security function is to maintain and support countywide security policies and maintain the integrity of the overall network. The Windows server function has the responsibility to maintain and support all Windows servers.

Responsiblities:

  • Knows the County’s Customer-Centered Culture principles, the County’s Mission, Strategic Plan and Core Values and demonstrates a commitment to customer satisfaction for all customers on a regular basis.
  • Maintain countywide server and networking infrastructure.
  • Analyze server and network performance and determine appropriate course of action.
  • Maintain security through active directory and firewall/security appliances.
  • Provide technical support for the server and network environment.
  • Maintain proper backup and recovery procedures for County wide data.
  • Support all Windows servers and networking equipment.
  • Maintain DNS, DHCP, domain controllers, Active Directory, Exchange, IIS, file servers, and print servers.
  • Monitor system logs and activity on all servers/networking equipment.
  • Analyze and repair defective server and networking hardware.
  • Maintain security levels on all servers and LAN/WAN equipment to appropriate access levels.
  • Research, install, and test all Windows server security patches.
  • Maintain hardware inventory documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining service level agreements.
  • Perform other related duties as required. Knows the products they personally produce and the customers of each product. 
  • Listens to the “Voice of the Customer “and closes gaps between customer expectations and experience whenever possible.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science or a computer-related field) is preferred. 
  • Associate’s Degree (Business, Telecommunications, or Technology) is acceptable with IT related certifications (Network+, Server+, Security +, MCTS, CCNA, MCSE, or MCSA). 
  • Certifications must be made current or completed within twelve (12) months of employment. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge in Microsoft Server administration. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the fundamental concepts and practices used with computer security and deployment. 
  • Understanding of networking technologies and tools. 
  • Knowledge of network performance and analysis tools. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory including installation and configuring. 
  • Knowledge of system level security procedures including standards for domain concepts in an Active Directory environment. 
  • Experience in documenting proper network and firewall schemas. 
  • Experience in Windows Server platforms (2003, 2008), Exchange (2003, 2007, 2010), and IIS. 
  • Experience in enterprise level LAN/WAN environment; NTFS, Group Permissions, Network Security, TCP/IP, DHCP, WINS, DNS, e-mail, web servers, file servers, and print servers.
  • Knowledge of standard network infrastructures. 
  • Knowledge of performance and network monitoring tools. 
  • Knowledge of server operating systems. 
  • Understanding of current computer security trends and tools. Excellent technical communication skills to convey information to end users both orally and in written format. 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and pay attention to details. 
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member. 
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and resolve any problems involved in integration of new technologies with established systems.
  • Valid Iowa Driver’s License required. 
  • Must be able to pass a County physical examination which includes a drug test. 
  • Tests will be required after offer of employment. 
  • Regular work attendance required.  
  • Attendance during off hours may be required.

Shift:

  • 10am-7pm Monday-Friday

COVID-19 Precautions

New hire orientation is conducted using social distancing measures and face masks. Temperatures are taken at the beginning of each day for all personnel; this includes new hires. A face mask will be provided to new hires who do not have their own. Face masks will be worn in a manner that covers both the nose and mouth.
