The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Health Care Information Systems is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to be responsible for the setup, maintenance and administration of a variety of enterprise Windows systems.  The position requires an individual who has demonstrated technical prowess in a 500+ server, 1,000+ user environment and who can handle the implementation of multiple projects while working with other groups in IT and across the enterprise.  This individual must work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.  This person must also network with key contacts outside their own area of expertise for issue identification & resolution.

Salary: $70,000 to commensurate – 5B

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.

Experience Requirements

  • Typically 5-7 years of experience in IT systems infrastructure development.
  • 3+ years of experience in a position focused on systems administration of Microsoft SQL, IIS and Windows High Availability solutions.
  • Technically fluent in server hardware and Windows Operating Systems.
  • Practical experience with remote management tools, scripting, server clustering, system backups, and/or software and operating system patch management.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to effectively document procedures and instructions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more hypervisor technologies.

Highly Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with medical system/device integration including installing, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting problems with medical systems/devices
  • Experience with Epic Client Systems Administration or systems administration experience in a healthcare environment
  • Support of SAN-attached devices and tools such as Isilon, IBM SVC and FlashSystem Storage.

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficient in programming with a scripting language such as PowerShell
  • Practical experience using remote management tools.
