The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Health Care Information Systems (HCIS) are seeking an experienced technical professional as an Application Developer, Cherwell Application in the Communication and Collaboration division. HCIS provides and supports information and communication systems and technology that facilitate quality patient care, progressive medical education, and innovative research. HCIS serve University of Iowa Health Care by providing comprehensive, high level support for patient care delivery, internal and external communication, technology innovation, medical education, and research. Creating and maintaining a positive, productive, and rewarding environment for information technology and communication staff. 

 

Design and/or modify components of the IT Service Management system.  Duties include workflow analysis, optimization, application build, testing and implementation. Other responsibilities include monitoring production issues, testing special updates, and system documentation. The ideal candidate will have experience as the primary contact for the support, configuration and development of at least one enterprise application; experience working with end-users to define system requirements and understand business needs; ability to write technical specifications for complex integrated systems; and basic project management skills. All positions require some 24 x 7 on-call support.

Salary: $51,718 to commensurate – 4B

Position Qualifications:

Education Required

 

Bachelor’s in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and related application development/support experience. 

 

·        Some current relevant experience, typically 3-5 years, in the development and/or support of applications used by non- technical customers to support and enhance business processes.

·        Experience contributing to an integrated information system implementation cycle though areas such as design, workflow analysis, build, training, implementation, testing and support

·        Demonstrated experience working with end-users to define system requirements, understand business needs and convert business requirements into functional/technical specifications for complex integrated systems build

·        Demonstrated ability using programming languages and tools for customizing vendor application software.

·        Experience working with vendors to analyze system and integration requirements

·        Experience communicating technical information effectively to technical and non-technical staff at the verbal, written and presentation levels

·        Demonstrated job-related experience and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment 

 

Desirable Qualifications

·        Experience supporting an IT Service Management tool in a healthcare or academic setting

·        Experience with any of the following: procedural workflows, inventory management systems, incident/service request process, knowledge management, change management

·        Cherwell training related but not limited to the following: Cherwell Certified Administrator, CSM Foundations, Designer Essentials

·        Experience collaborating with technical and non-technical staff on system implementation projects

·        Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with basic project management

·        Experience with database design and table management

·        Experience implementing workflow, automated process and publishing blueprints

·        Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with any of the following data management methods: APIs, data imports, system integrations
