Health Care Information Systems (HCIS): Provides and supports information and communication systems and technology that facilitate quality patient care, progressive medical education, and innovative research.

HCIS services University of Iowa Health Care by providing comprehensive, high level support for patient care delivery, internal and external communication, technology innovation, medical education, and research. Creating and maintaining a positive, productive, and rewarding environment for information technology and communication staff.

Position Responsibilities: 
This position will work closely with the UI CareLink Program Coordinator, the Health Care Information Systems Identity Management Team (HCIS IDMT) and the External Referral Maintenance Team. This position will be responsible to create the requisite accounts, securely maintain enrollment documents, complete appropriate configurations of CareLink identity records as needed and be responsible for the secure distribution of credential information for CareLink users. Additionally, this position will work with HCIS teams to design and/or modify components of complex clinical application systems.
  • Create Affiliate User accounts and records for UI CareLink users within University of Iowa Health Care IT systems and processes.
  • Store and maintain completed enrollment forms.
  • Analyze enrollment requests as compared to existing system build, complete subsequent build of any necessary records and distribute information to the appropriate teams.
  • Maintain external provider records needed to support UI CareLink workflows.
  • Act as a liaison to HCIS UI CareLink Program Coordinator when creating or terminating UI CareLink Affiliate User accounts and provide guidance & instruction with user setup as needed.
  • Securely distribute credential information for CareLink users.
  • Participate in the UI CareLink Core Team and Executive Oversight Committee meetings, serving as the technical representative of the HCIS IDMT.
  • Process improvement for site verification, enrollment, credential dissemination and form collection/storage/retrieval.
  • Provide some 24x7 on-call system support.

Position Qualifications:  
Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, IT-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience Requirements
  • 3-5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working with application owners and/or vendors to define system requirements, integration requirements and understand business needs.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong focus on customer service and experience providing excellent customer service and resolution.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail with strong organization skills. Ability to effectively document procedures and instructions.
  • Experience with basic project management as demonstrated by the ability to simultaneously participate in multiple small to medium projects and initiatives within a complex environment, managing project deadlines, escalation, resolution and program delivery.
  • Demonstrated job-related experience and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment.
  • Excellent communications skill, both written and verbal, and strong interpersonal skills
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience with any of the following processes: Identity provisioning, data migration, dvanced troubleshooting, change management.
  • Experience in the development, configuration and/or support of applications used to support and enhance healthcare workflows processes.
  • Epic certifications:  Security Coordinator, Provider Badge, Chronicles Install Utilities, EpicCare Link.
  • Experience working with confidentiality requirements as set by HIPAA, FERPA, federal, state and local regulations 
  • Knowledge and/or experience with any of the following: identity management account and entitlement lifecycle; federated identity management; privilege accumulation; role-based access control (RBAC); authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA)
  • Strong problem solving and process improvement skills for managing service delivery, including developing workflows and new business processes.
