Position Summary:
Responsible for determining data requirements, constructing and managing databases and analytical files, conducting descriptive statistical analysis of data, and reporting results.Perform database design and development. Utilize software (Visio, Excel, Tableau, etc.), databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Microsoft Access, etc.) and perform programming (XML, VBA, VB Script, SQL).Complete descriptive statistics and utilize data management software for cleaning and analyzing large datasets (Excel, SAS, etc). Perform query writing, report writing and present findings. Perform data manipulation and data visualization.

Position Responsibilities:
Data Analysis, Migration and Management:
  • Utilize database languages (e.g., SQL); create queries and reports.
  • Assist in data cleansing and conversions.

Database Development/Reporting:
  • Assist in the creation of forms and reports.

  • Review pre-defined database specification.
  • Review, model and write documentation.
  • Assist in modeling exercises.

  • Provide analysis, design and implementation and support of programmatic solutions.

  • Perform routine database administration including reviewing backup/restore and security processes.
  • Provide operation support.

Leadership/Staff Management/Financial Responsibility:
  • Contribute ideas.
  • Seek way to improve assigned processes.
  • May provide functional supervision; provide direction, assignments, feedback, coaching and counseling to assure outcomes are achieved.

Education Required
  • A Bachelor’s degree in the area of Information Systems, Informatics, Business Intelligence or Business Analytics is required.

Experience Requirements
  • A demonstrated ability to learn multiple software packages and programming languages is required.
  • 1 year of combined employment, internship experience, and/or coursework in a related field is required.Employment and internship experience should be in an IT related area including technical support, database management, or business analytics. Recent coursework should have been successfully completed in Database Management, Information Systems, Business Intelligence, Business Analytics, or Computer Science.
  • Experience with database design and development is required.
  • Knowledge of software (Visio, Excel, or Tableau), databases (Oracle, SQL Server, or Microsoft Access) and programming (XML, VBA, VB Script, or SQL) is required.
  • Proficiency at query writing is required.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Knowledge of descriptive statistics and experience using data management software for cleaning and analyzing large datasets (Excel, SAS, or R,) is desired.
  • Expertise in data manipulation and data visualization is desired.
  • Proficiency at report writing and presenting findings is desired.
  • Experience accessing data from EPIC or other electronic medical record is desired
  • Experience with data security practices is desired
  • Experience with project management, including the ability to facilitate communication between technical and non-technical users of data is desired
