Welding Technician – 1st and 2nd Shift

ACP, Inc. has an immediate opportunity available for a Welding Technician supporting our 1st or 2nd shift operation. 1st Shift Hours: 6 am – 4:30 pm; 2nd Shift Hours: 7:30 pm – 6 am, Monday-Thursday. ACP, Inc. is a division of the ALI Group and a leader in providing high-speed cooking solutions to the foodservice industry. These positions will be instrumental in learning our current welding processes and supporting our new welding equipment installation, debugging, training, etc. 2nd shift position will work and train on 1st shift until approximately August 2019.

The Welding Technicians will provide production support by performing training, setup, troubleshooting and operations of welding cells, as well as implementing best practices and proactively assessing welding applications in performing the following duties:

Key Accountabilities:
  1. Follow all safety procedures and protocols while operating, servicing or maintaining weld equipment.
  2. Become proficient in interacting with ‘weld computer’ (control system) set-up and adjustments to ensure projection weld cells are producing acceptable welds.
  3. Train, mentor and support welding associates on weld equipment.
  4. Basic welding technology troubleshooting (i.e., resistance spot welding applications, weld tip inspection, tip force, shunt cable inspection/replacement, etc.), GMAW component knowledge and troubleshooting 
  5. Ensuring a high quality of weld by complying with standard work guidelines, process instructions and print specifications.
  6. Loading parts into the machine, engaging the machine and running the weld cycle. 
  7. Dressing, changing, spacing and adjusting welding tips. Welding tip changes.
  8. Machine cleaning and change out fixture preventative maintenance.
  9. Use of hand measurement tools and volt meters.
  10. Basic welding (theory and experience, resistance welding, projection welding, GMAW welding, acetylene torch usage and understanding of weld fixture adjustment process.
  11. Must understand MSDS sheets relevant to work center.
  12. Comply with PPE and 5S and all safety rules.
  13. Participate on Kaizen events and training.
  14. Perform other related duties assigned. 

Position Competencies:
  • HS or GED equivalent required. Formal training or education through an accredited welding program or technical school desired.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge; previous welding or sheet metal fabrication experience required. 
  • Must display safety and quality disciplines daily. 
  • Must strive to achieve or exceed KPI’s relevant to area.
  • Must understand ISO requirements relevant to area.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend standard work, process and quality instructions.
  • Must be able to read blue prints and effectively use quality tools and instruments.
