Industrial Service Technician

  The Industrial Service Technician is responsible for field service job preparation; transportation; removal, installation, and/or repair of belt products; quality assurance; site safety adherence and cleanliness; and recordkeeping.  The Technician has significant travel and uses mechanical and product knowledge to perform on-site service work in a variety of environments.  Care and organization of department equipment and supplies, job preparation, and fabrication work orders are completed at the report-to production facility.  

Primary responsibilities include:
•Adhere to safety regulations and field service best practices for on-the-job safety including use of fall protection equipment and precautions in stringing belt.
•Ensure DOT regulations/standards are met.
•Pull materials needed for the belt installation or repair.
•Responsible for loading truck and trailer and ensuring all needed equipment for the road job is present.
•Double check the order and make sure the correct belt and accessories were pulled for the order(s).
•Load belt(s) into truck or trailer, making sure not to damage material.
•Drive to and from job site in a timely, safe and responsible manner.
•Meet with customer and look over the location of the job to be completed.
•Determine the best way to remove the old belt and transport new belt to job location, as required.
•Pull belt onto conveyor system with cable, rope or by hand and determine the best way to install belt on a case by case basis.
•Remove the old belt, usually at the same time as the installation of the new one, using power winder or rigging the belt as needed depending on the job, attach new belt to the old belt and pull belts through system.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude and is willing and able to:
•Travel/be away from home for extended periods of time on a very regular basis often with little notice.
•Work on customer sites in some disagreeable working environments.
•Be responsible for service vehicles, equipment and tools.
•Become an expert in belt removal and installation and well skilled in hose assembly and testing.
•Pass the Department of Transportation physical exam.
