Job Title: R & D Lab Assistant I

Location: Coralville, IA

Purpose Statement: The R&D Lab Assistant assists with the various activities related to the operations of the research laboratory and aides the department with general laboratory upkeep.

Essential Functions:

  • Orders and maintains consumables inventory.

  • Maintains equipment inventory and documents equipment testing and maintenance.

  • Assists with lab moves, lab organization and equipment placement.

  • Assists with routine equipment maintenance and calibrations.

  • Demonstrates behavior consistent with the Integrated DNA Technologies Core Values.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High School diploma required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science related field or Associate’s degree in a science related field with 2 years relevant experience preferred

Professional Experience:

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word required; Visio knowledge preferred

  • Familiarity with a variety of laboratory equipment preferred

  • Familiarity with a research lab environment preferred

Travel Requirements:

  • Seldom = Up to 5% of time

Physical Requirements:

  • Exert 20-50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10-15 lbs. of force frequently

Visual Acuity:

  • Work requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Ability to read pertinent printed material and distinguish colors.

  • Ability to accurately read measurements on equipment.

  • Ability to prepare and read written documentation; use of computer.
