The Gazette is looking for a Strategic Account Executive to consultatively sell sponsorships for business related events which include but are not limited to; Iowa Ideas, HER Women’s Luncheon Series, HER Women of Achievement Awards, Pint’s and Politics, Business 380 Awards. The Gazette is 100% Employee Owned media company located in the heart of downtown Cedar Rapids.

You'll consultatively sell advertising for all properties and company websites to assigned list of accounts.  Identity and target ways to grow existing business as well as ways to obtain new business opportunities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop campaigns to retain and subsequently grow revenue. Plan, prepare and make effective sales presentations.
  • Establish good rapport with Clients and asks for repeat business.
  • Deliver quality orders to the support teams and provides all necessary information to insure smooth running of advertising.
  • Gets involved in business and community events to both promote our company as well as assist in efforts to improve our area.
  • Meet and exceed monthly sales target measured on a 3 month rolling average.
  • Consults on options for effective ad design, insertion, and provides suggestions for ad improvement.
  • Provides suggestions for sponsorship packages that align with Clients goals.
  • Maintain strong sales results and industry knowledge in order to represent all company offerings.
  • Provides information and assistance to coordinate advertising.  Suggest options in effective ad message.
  • Orders in advertising, sponsorships, events and processes orders to ensure proper schedule.
  • Completes necessary forms and paperwork, checks, reads and corrects proofs, processes customer credits and obtains prepays when necessary. Perform works within established timeframes and in an efficient manner.
  • Acts as an advisor of sponsorships, events, special sections, niche publications and other media promotions.

Job Skills & Attributes
Five years or more sales and sponsorship sales experience.  Strong written and verbal communications skills. Creative thinking and planning. Strong work ethic and ability to be flexible in work efforts to drive business is key to success. Ability to work with a variety of standard computer software and mobile tools as well as internal operating systems necessary to create proposals, process orders and track pipeline.

Minimum Requirements
Four year degree or equivalent. Additional education in business, sales/related field. Five years’ experience in sales and or sponsorship sales.  Above average written and oral communication skills. Own reliable transportation, safe driving habits, and the maintaining of a valid driver’s license.  Ability to generate fresh ideas and think creatively a plus.
