GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Set-up and serve food and beverages to guests.  This position will work as a server or a bartender depending on the event and business demand. This position serves as a trainer.  Trainers are responsible for supervising the learning experiences of students and hourly employees in all areas of The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, The Kirkwood Center for Hospitality Arts and The Kirkwood Center for Continuing Education.


Bartending shifts pay at a base pay of $12.48 and is tip eligible, Server shifts start at $12.80 per hour.

 DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide prompt, courteous and efficient food and beverage service for the banquet department.
  • Prepare Mixed drinks as ordered, and collect payment and give change to guests at Banquet Bar's.
  • Set up for banquet events, carry trays, serve guests and clean up events.
  • Provide consistently high standard of service in all areas of service and meal functions related to group.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Effectively handle customer concerns.
  • Participate in department and pre-shift meetings.
  • Understand and practice “Service Alcohol with Care” principles.
  • Maintain compliance with required training as designated by supervisor.
  • Regular and consistent attendance at work.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in a business setting.  Occasional (10-33%) sitting, viewing equipment and supplies and other types of close visual work.  Frequent (34-66%) reaching, pulling, grasping, lifting and pushing up to 50 pounds. Constant (67-100%) standing, walking, repetitive motion, talking and listening.     

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Serving: Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Customer service skills and knowledge are essential.
  • Bartending Shifts: Must be 18 years or older.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Experience is preferred, but not required.
