University of Iowa Catering is seeking an experienced hospitality leader to serve as Catering Operations Manager. This position will oversee and assist in the planning, organization, supervision, coordination and service of food and beverages for a wide array of functions at the University, including but not limited to conferences, wedding receptions, and large banquets. This position will hire, train and manage the performance of Catering Operations staff. This position will also serve as the liaison between Catering Operations and many other partners (i.e. Catering Sales, Kitchen Staff, Facilities Professionals, etc.) to ensure outstanding service for University of Iowa Catering customers.

Qualifications:
Education Requirement:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; or equivalent combination of education and related hospitality and supervisory experience.
Experience Required:
  • Banquet, catering, and/or fine dining restaurant leadership work experience (typically 2-4 years).
  • Supervisor and administrative experience (typically 2-4 years), including inventory management and control.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively transmit, receive and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through appropriate communication methods and behaviors.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust and develop self to prepare for new or changing assignments, processes, people or priorities as organizational needs dictate.
  • Demonstrated working proficiency in the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups while appreciating the unique contribution of diverse individuals.
  • Demonstrated working proficiency in the ability to collaborate and interact with individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated working proficiency in the ability to provide excellent customer service and to meet or exceed customer service needs.
  • Working experience with computerized food service and event management software.
  • Must have a valid US driver’s license and have the ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Program guidelines.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ServSafe certification.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • 4 years or more of supervisory and administration experience.
  • Working experience in a large-scale banquet & catering operation with off-premise catering.
  • Working experience with electronic timekeeping systems, inventory systems, and POS systems.
  • Working knowledge of University policy, procedures, and regulations.
