  • Summary
    • This job supports Mercy’s philosophy of patient centered care by the APP assisting with clinical care, education and direction of their respective program. The APP works in collaboration with a physician and other team members to provide care to patients and their families.
  • Job Duties/Essential Functions
    • Job Duties
      • Performs and documents complete, system-focused, and/or symptom specific physical and psychosocial examination.
      • Manages diagnostic tests through ordering, performing, interpreting, and supervising in the assessment process.
      • Prescribes pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic interventions in collaboration with the supervising physician.
      • Assists with the management of the plan of care through the evaluation, modification, and documentation according to the patient's response to therapy, change in condition, and to therapeutic interventions to optimize patient outcomes.
      • Assesses the needs of families and caregivers.
      • Synthesizes data from a variety of sources to make clinical judgments and decisions about appropriate recommendations and treatments.
      • Initiates appropriate referrals and performs consultations.
      • Demonstrates leadership of the health care team through teaching, coaching, and supporting to advance plan of care.
      • Maintains current knowledge regarding state and federal regulations impacting APP practice.

  • Professional Experience
    • Proven experience in the evaluation and management of patients in specialty area required.
  • Education
    • Education sufficient to obtain required licensure.
  • Licensure, Certification, Registration
    • Currently licensed to practice in the state of Iowa required.
    • Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse & Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training required.  Employee must submit certification of completed training to Human Resources prior to start or transfer date.
  • Physical Demand Requirements
    • Medium: Exert 20-50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10-15 lbs. of force frequently

Schedule: Full Time, Day, 8:00AM-4:30PM, Monday- Friday
