Care Initiatives Waterloo Hospice is currently hiring a part-time talented Volunteer Coordinator to join our team!

Our approach addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those facing life-limiting illness for themselves and their families. We work closely with family members and caregivers to respect the wishes and needs of our patients and their loved ones with the utmost compassion, dignity, and respect for those in their final stages of life.

Purpose of the position:

To implement the Volunteer Program according to regulatory and agency policy. Screens, recruits and trains prospective volunteers for all settings and position descriptions, responsible for the assignment and ongoing supervision of all volunteers.

The primary responsibilities of the Volunteer Coordinator are to work in cooperation with the Staff and Volunteer Engagement Director. Identify volunteer recruitment and training

Needs. Assist in conducting training sessions based on identified needs. Assign volunteers to meet patient/family needs. Attend IDT meetings, team meetings; maintains close communication with volunteers and team leaders. Evaluate activities and performance of volunteers.


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Volunteer management certificate preferred.
  • Current driver’s license and automobile liability insurance
