Care Initiatives Hospice is currently seeking a full-time Hospice Aide to join our team.
Summary:
The hospice aide provides personal care and light home
maintenance assistance to Care Initiatives Hospice patients in accordance with
the written care plan.
The main responsibilities of this position are to assist
patients with activities of daily living. A few examples of this are helping
the patient to bathe, transfer from a bed, chair or commode, dressing,
grooming, exercise, reminding to take medications, assisting with bathroom
needs, eating and more. In this role you will also provide light house cleaning
at patients’ locations and make certain nutritional needs of patients are met,
for example grocery shopping and food preparation.
Qualifications:
- Must
be 18 years of age or older
- Background
Check, Drug Test and Motor Vehicle Record clearance required
- Paid caregiving experience preferred
- Pass
the Care Initiatives Hospice competency test within five days of hire
- Obtains
hospice nursing assistant certification (Certified Hospice and Palliative
Care Nursing Assistant -CHPNA) within 24 months of employment. (for FT
employees)
- Current
Iowa driver’s license and automobile liability insurance
- CPR
certification required before first day of work
- Knowledge
of Home health aide procedures and universal health care precautions
- Home
health aide/hospice aide/certified nursing assistant services provided for
compensation during the previous 24 months – preferred
- Functional
literacy in written and spoken English
- Ability
to access business and patient homes
- Ability
to function with limited supervision
