Recreation Supervisor II- Rollin RecMobile (MUST BE 18+)

Plans, organizes and leads special events throughout the Parks and Recreation Department. Generates interest in and provides leadership for activities.

Exercises independent judgment and authority for maintaining control and order.

Position Schedule: Staff needed for programs May-August; Hours vary but include days, evenings, and weekends (Part-time and full-time positions available)

Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, physical examination (if applicable) and drug screen are required prior to employment with the City of Cedar Rapids.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

  • Plan and manage the logistics of an event, including venue, guests, programs, and marketing.
  • Provide guidance when working with vendors and attendees to set the tone of the event, and use problem solving skills when working through adjustments in programming.
  • Makes independent judgements and enforces the rules according to the sport
  • Communicates with adults and groups of youth in various special event settings;
  • Distributes forms and schedules to those attending or assisting at event as needed; Attends training as scheduled;
  • Facilitates the setup and tear down of each event while maintaining equipment and insuring equipment is properly stored
  • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies, procedures and safety practices;
  • Attends work regularly at the designated place and time;
  • Supports continuous process improvement initiatives;
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements

Acceptable Experience and Training:

  • Experience working with elementary age children through child care or similar group activities; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Required Special Qualifications:
  • Valid US Driver's License required.
