Golf Clubhouse Assistant Manager (MUST BE 18+)

Manages clubhouse operations and provides support for the clubhouse professional; directs and supervises the clubhouse operation in the absence of the golf professional. Performs related work as required.


Supervision is exercised over the work of seasonal and hourly employees in the classifications of Lead Cashier, Cashier, Starter and volunteers in all day-to-day assigned tasks.


Position Schedule: Hours vary; 40 hours/week. Staff needed throughout the Golf season April-November.

Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, physical examination (if applicable) and drug screen are required prior to employment with the City of Cedar Rapids.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

  • Assumes full responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the facility;

  • Provides support to the management of all golf clubhouse activities for assigned course;

  • Trains, supervises work, prepares schedules and assigns duties of all clubhouse personnel, in the operations of managing golf play (tee times, time or rounds, golf etiquette, etc.);

  • Handles patron and staff concerns and problems of discipline;

  • Promotes good relations with general public and any other groups using the facility;

  • Promotes good working relations among staff members;

  • Prepares, maintains and submits any records and/or reports of golf course operation as required;

  • Accounts for and controls golf course funds and prepares reports as required;

  • Purchases concessions for clubhouse as requested by the public and as dictated by sales;

  • Presents professional public image in order to market golf courses;

  • Assists Merchandise Coordinator in creating merchandise displays and receipt of merchandise;

  • Assures the cleanliness and safety of the clubhouse;

  • Supervises and monitors the daily operation of the golf course;

  • Adheres to and enforces all facility policies, rules and regulations and educates patrons about them;

  • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies, procedures and safety practices;

  • Attends work regularly at the designated place and time;

  • Supports City’s continuous process improvement initiatives;

  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements

Acceptable Experience and Training:

  • One or more year(s) of golf course employment preferred.  Strong customer service skills.
