This is an entry level position that offers a 37.5 hour work week (Monday - Friday), an excellent full-time benefit package and a beginning annual salary of $45,000.

On the job training is available for candidates who have an associate’s degree in a related field and two years of experience in assessment, appraisal or building trades is preferred; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Special requirements: Valid driver’s license and insurable under liability coverage. May also require use of private vehicle for official business.

Responsibilities include determining appropriate property value for real estate tax purposes on all types of residential and commercial properties, for reappraisals and new construction.

SPECIFIC DUTIES: to be performed satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Measures and lists all residential and/or commercial properties. Enters properties to take measurements, observe condition, finishes, and upgrades. Verifies property information, converses with owners, makes sketches and field notes, and takes photographs.
  • Inspects and analyzes physical characteristics on incomplete, damaged, substandard or environmentally hazardous properties; interprets and applies adjustments to value.
  • Runs queries for comparable properties and comparable sales.
  • Enters sales and building permit data in appraisal software.
  • Gathers and enters income data on income producing properties.
  • Reviews and verifies plans for new construction.
  • Assists the public in person and/or via telephone, email, etc. with questions or problems.
  • Reviews real estate property listings online for differences that could affect property values.
  • Provides assistance to the Board of Review when needed.
  • Performs other duties and activities as assigned.
  • Participates in training/educational opportunities and work-related meetings as required.
  • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with office policies, procedures and safety practices.
  • Attends work regularly at the designated place and time.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, conference board, other agencies and members of the public
  • Use a computer for the purpose of data entry, spreadsheets, word processing, presentations, email and Internet
  • Operate common office equipment such as typewriters, calculators, fax and postage machines, photocopiers and multi-line telephones

  • Complete forms and maintain records and filing systems

  • Have sufficient vision which permits moderate to heavy production and review of a wide variety of materials both in electronic and hardcopy forms
  • Have sufficient manual dexterity to make handwritten notations and which permits moderate to heavy use of a keyboard and mouse
  • Stand, walk, sit, stoop, crouch, squat, kneel, bend, twist, reach, climb and use a stepstool as needed
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds as needed
  • Work outdoors in different terrain in all weather conditions
  • Have sufficient personal mobility to complete work at various locations
  • Work flexible schedule and occasional overtime as needed

Salary range: $45,000 - $55,000 annually

Office hours: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4 pm
