ABOUT MOUNT MERCY:

POSITION SUMMARY:
MMU’s Office of Marketing & Communications (MarCom) invites applications for a full-time Project Manager, reporting to the AVP for Marketing & Communications. The Project Manager will contribute to the effective and efficient execution of the University’s marketing and communications efforts, partnering with internal client-partners to:

  • define print, digital, and multimedia marketing requests

  • develop strategies to meet those requests

  • manage work-flow and approvals

  • coordinate communications

  • monitor the production process from intake to delivery—ensuring deliverables are timely and of the highest quality, while aligning with Mount Mercy’s brand strategy

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Effectively manage multiple cross-functional, cross-departmental, and concurrent marketing/communications projects (print, digital, multimedia) using project management tools and software (Asana)

  2. Field all incoming project requests, functioning as the gatekeeper and determining related needs or deliverables not necessarily identified or realized by client-partners

  3. Meet client-partner needs by managing work flow and production of all projects from point of request through delivery—facilitating the design, content development, technical/development, and quality assurance processes required for effective implementation

  4. Coordinate and lead client-partner intake meetings to assess goals and advise on appropriate deliverables and methods (in conjunction with the AVP as necessary)

  5. Identify assets, resources, and timing necessary to complete projects that meet goals, budgets, deadlines, and branding guidelines

  6. Ensure day-to-day communication with MarCom and client-partners is timely, accurate, friendly, and professional

  7. Ensure appropriate MarCom team members are assigned to projects and informed of status updates

  8. Manage routing and approval process; review deliverables for completeness and accuracy before sharing with client-partners

  9. Coordinate advertising placement and sponsorship commitments in conjunction with the MarCom team

  10. Manage relationships with outside vendors such as printers, video producers, photographers, ad reps, and freelancers

  11. Manage unforeseen challenges, including changes in client-partner expectations, changes in project needs/goals, abrupt scheduling or timing issues, etc.

  12. Effectively renegotiate project deliverables, project milestones, budget, and/or deadlines as needed to ensure work moves forward effectively, maximizing success for both client-partners and the MarCom team

  13. Stay current in project management trends, tools, and best practices; advise on helpful/necessary opportunities to streamline and improve processes


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  1. A well-developed customer service orientation, a consistently positive attitude/great sense of humor, a diplomatic and professional demeanor, and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally

  2. A thorough understanding of client-partner relations and the functions and challenges of in-house creative services teams

  3. Expert project and time management skills

  4. Superior organization skills and attention to detail

  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  6. Strong editing, writing, and proofing abilities

  7. A solid understanding of the overall creative process as well as the importance of the user experience, effective brand strategy, and key marketing functions including: copywriting, design, print, web, photo, and video (and how to coordinate their integration)

  8. Ability to function well in a fast-paced (sometimes chaotic) environment under tight deadlines

  9. Experience managing multiple projects on various timelines and effectively assessing/reprioritizing workload regularly, solving problems, and anticipating scheduling conflicts/future needs

  10. Effective team player with the ability to maintain positive relationships in a collaborative and diverse team atmosphere; must maintain confidentiality with sensitive information

  11. Exceptional work ethic with consistent attendance and accountability necessary to meet position objectives

  12. Technical savvy (great with computers/systems); proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and project management tools and techniques (experience with Asana helpful)


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, or related field

  2. At least 5 years of relevant project management experience in a marketing or creative environment

  3. Higher education marketing experience preferred
