Overview

Description of Position:

Provide a “snapshot” or the principal purpose or focus of the position, consisting of no more than three to five sentences.  This summary should provide enough information to differentiate the major function and activities of the position from those of other positions.

Routine, preventative and corrective cleaning of floors in accordance to procedures for Carpet Care.  Project cleaning of walls, lights, vents, windows, moving furniture, set up meeting rooms, cleaning stairwells, hauling trash, provide post case cleaning in the morgue and surgery rooms and terminal cleaning of floors in surgery rooms, Xenex and other work as assigned. All work to be done in accordance with the standard procedures of the Environmental Services Department in accordance with the hospital objectives. Will use cleaning equipment including rotos, automatic floor machines, carpet extractors, vacuums, cardboard bailer, moving dollies, ladders, wall washing equipment, Xenex robot and other necessary cleaning equipment and supplies.

Education

·         The associate is aware of hospital and department compliance for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse.  Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of department or hospital administrative staff.

·         Successfully completes hospital-wide orientation, annual hospital competencies and department/unit specific competencies.

·         For the safety of our patients and co-workers, St. Luke’s Hospital requires seasonal and job related vaccinations.  This is reviewed regularly during periodic health assessments.

Customer Service

·         Purposefully conducts all aspects of the job in an ethical manner in support of the hospital’s commitment to ethical behavior in all areas of personal and professional activity.

·         Ability to communicate effectively with the public, patients, and staff in a positive manner which promotes St. Luke’s services.

Key Accountability

·         Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedule and using prescribed methods.

·         Extract carpeted areas and recognize cause and material of soiling to remove with proper chemicals or processes.

·         Take down and rehang drapes and cubicles.

·         Report to scene of each fire or fire drill.

·         Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and have repairs made when needed.

·         Maintain grounds as assigned.

·         Performs total room cleaning on annual basis and provides recording keeping for completion.

·         Move furniture, beds, and set up meeting rooms.

·         Observe and report the need for repairs to hospital equipment, furniture, building and fixtures.

·         Use cardboard bailer as needed.

·         Performs all duties of the housekeeper position as assigned.

·         Perform other tasks, which may be assigned by Lead or Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

 

 

 

·         Must be at least 18 years old.

 

·         Reading, writing and mathematical skills at level normally acquired through completion of high schools or equivalent preferred.

 

Experience:

 

 

 

 

·         Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.

 

·         Previous experience in an equipment operator position preferred, but not required.

Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
