Operations Manager Summary 
In support of the organization’s mission, vision and values, this leader is responsible for the overall direction and performance of facility operations for the location including belt slitting and fabrication, hose assembly, order fulfillment, scheduling, and maintenance. This position is customer focused/centric in thinking and works closely with Technical Services, Materials Management, Sales Management, Local Inside Sales Team and others to ensure a high quality, efficient run service center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Provides leadership to all Cedar Rapids manufacturing and distribution operations to build a high performing culture and identify and advance operations strategic initiatives.
  • Develops and implements an operations performance measurement system including key indicator identification and improvement monitoring.
  • Works with the Technical Services Group/Continual Improvement to implement lean initiatives quality processes for measureable improvement.
  • Works with the Technical Services Group/Continual Improvement to troubleshoot issues, identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements.
  • Participates in the planning and executes company-wide facilities planning to maximize revenue per square foot.
  • Assists in the development of the annual plant budget and monitors actual to budgeted performance throughout the fiscal year.
  • Provides overall facility leadership for all Cedar Rapids employees.
  • Ensures standards for product quality, equipment, and operator performance are maintained and that cost effective technology is used to maximize production. Ensures fixed assets are preserved.  Provides recommendations on purchases of new equipment and improvements to plant production and property.
  • Uses lean, demand flow and other tools to drive innovative solutions that streamline processes, increase capacity, maximize fabrication throughput and optimize asset utilization.
  • Ensures timely cycle counting activities that result in accurate inventories in Cedar Rapids.
  • Ensures accurate and reliable master production schedules that results in on-time delivery to our customers
  • Participates in negotiation of profitable contracts with Operations vendors.
  • Manages overall work force planning, screening, selection and terminations, as well as the Temporary Labor function for the facility.
  • Ensures adherance to ISO 9001:2008 certification program.
  • Ensures a Safe work environment for Cedar Rapids employees and overall compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Oversees the Maintenance function for the Cedar Rapids Operation.
  • Demonstrates high levels of Customer Service, accountability, leadership, communication, resource management and personal drive for the good of the entire Company.
  • Leads training sessions on a variety of topics.
  • Periodically may be required to be involved in Customer meetings and functions.
  • Works with the Sales Team and will need to be comfortable sales focused in front of our customers.
  • Attend work regularly and predictably and uphold Company values in all work aspects. 
Supervisory Responsibilities 
Directly and indirectly, manages and maintains positive employee relations with all employees and temporary agency staff working on-site in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws.  Actively involved in workforce planning; job definition, screening, interviewing and selection; coaching employees on correct behavior and performance; rewards and discipline; training and development; policy/procedure interpretation and adherence; issue/conflict/complaint investigation and resolution/action; performance management and assessment/appraisals; work scheduling; safe work operation; appropriate documentation; and compensation change, promotion, termination, and employee policy recommendations.

Education and/or Experience 
Associate’s degree and 10 years of manufacturing management experience or equivalent college and experience is required.  This position requires knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques including lean manufacturing; utilizing MRP/ERP; business, finance and management principles and practices including strategic planning; human resource principles and practices; project management principles and practices; converting raw materials; quality systems and standards; process improvement techniques; equipment and machine usage; organizational effectiveness; and technology principles and practices including Microsoft applications and automation.  A Bachelor’s degree and industry relevant production experience is highly preferred.  Desired qualifications include health and safety standards and compliance experience, MBA attainment, and experience with leading strategic projects.

Working Environment 
Going back and forth between plant and office environments there is some exposure to heat, moderate noise, moving pieces of equipment and dust/flying particles. Periodic travel will be required for training and Company meetings. 
Physical Demands
Effective Communication: Work requires frequent talking, hearing and presenting.  Manual Dexterity:  Work requires regular speed, accuracy and adeptness to operate a limited range of equipment.  Physical Effort:  Work requires handling light-weight materials or equipment requiring limited effort.
