Job Information:

The Process Team Member on Process Support (Core I) will be responsible for operations and team support in all manufacturing areas.  The individual must support and exemplify the vision and organizational values of International Paper and the Cedar River Mill.
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
The key accountabilities listed below are not to be considered all-inclusive; a team member may be required to perform additional tasks, as directed, and based on changing business needs of the company.
  • Train on Core Level I and II jobs for team support as necessary.
  • Will be responsible for obtaining two of the four following skills:
-- Shipping
-- Winder
-- OCC
  • Raw Materials
  • Support all mill housekeeping and grounds maintenance as required.
  • Makes process rounds for preventative maintenance and process checks.
  • Communicates through written shift logs, verbal shift relief, process checklists and MIS.
  • Responsible for thorough verbal communication at shift exchange with other team members.
  • Coaches safety in others and leads by example.
  • Understands and meets internal and external customer requirements.
  • Develops, maintains, and uses reliable methods for all processes and their improvements.
  • Assists other team members in the mill as necessary to minimize downtime and maintain quality.
  • Maintains and develops team relationships.
  • Develops cross-functional process skills.
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) related to the task.
  • Support other areas of the mill as needed (flow to work).
  • Fullfill area specific 5S expectations(5 Minute 5S Checklists Replenishment of tools and supplies, 5S Audits,etc).
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  • Individual must be able to wear all required safety equipment.
  • Noise levels in excess of 90 dB.
  • Heat in excess of 100°F occasionally.
  • Working environment is 24/7 – ability to be on-call as needed and/or required.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of shift time.
  • Occasionally move about immediate area and up and down many floors.
  • Occasionally transports tools and equipments weighing up to 70lbs
  • Occasionally ascends/descends stairs, ladders and into tanks
  • Push/Pull:  Assist in pushing 7,000 pound rolls; assist in pulling 6,000-7,000 pound machine clothing.
  • Upper body mobility in order to drive roll grab/bale grab, skid loader.
  • Some assignments require kneeling; crouching and twisting while installing machine clothing and threading machine
  • Occasionally operates valves 
  • Bending required picking up paper off floor after dressing rolls and hayouts at winder

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum
  • Two years previous manufacturing experience and/or two years post-high school education.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions in English.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Carry out physical tasks of job functions.
  • Ability to safely work with industrial chemicals.
  • Proven record of safe work practices.
  • Proven satisfactory record of scheduled and unscheduled attendance.
  • Ability to read and interpret data displayed on a computer screen (up to 60% of worktime).
  • Auditory perception to respond to safety and operational sounds.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use basic hand tools.
  • Understanding of basic mechanical workings.
