Director of Maintenance
Hopkinton, IA

Primary Objective: 
To manage the Maintenance Department business unit, supervise and direct the activities of its employee’s, develop best practices in maintaining and repairing the assets of IAS, and assist with assigned capital projects.

Major Accountabilities:

The following duties are typical for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.

  • Promote safety first in the work place; require all company safety policies and procedures to be followed internally and by outside service providers.
  • Manage the department’s financial benchmarks and support the company’s objectives and goals.
  • Direct supervision of and scheduling the labor of company millwright employees. Collaborate with the IAS Ag Facility Project Manager position on specifications and sourcing materials needed for assigned projects.
  • Direct supervision of Hopkinton, IA based truck mechanics; oversee scheduling and replacement parts inventory.
  • Maintain job descriptions and objectives and use those to complete annual wage and performance reviews.
  • Manage payables and invoicing of materials and invoicing of services provided by the department.
  • Ability to write a repair estimate on equipment or develop a facility project budget in advance to assist locations and management in decision making.
  • Develop safe and financially beneficial best practices for preventative maintenance and documentation of; collaborate with management in acceptance and implementation.
  • Be a resource for regional/location managers in providing guidance on preventative maintenance and repair as well as external industry contacts for materials and services. This includes training of others in DOT pre-trip/post-trip inspections.
  • Maintain a transparent listing of available materials (electric motors, tires, major vehicle components, etc.) that can be utilized by all locations in the time of need to reduce downtime.
  • Assist management with capital projects as assigned. Reviewing specifications with and sourcing competitive proposals from vendors, processing and accounting for payments made to vendors.
  • Any and all other tasks assigned by supervision.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • AS400 computer operation
  • Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate information or ideas effectively in written or oral form.
  • Ability to organize, deal with change effectively, and work on multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Post secondary education or equivalent of education and experience
